I grew up in the Mountain State. The heart of Appalachia. West Virginia, USA.

"Mountaineers are Always Free."

 

My dad worked as a welder for Ashland Oil all of his adult life - until he retired. He lost one of his big toes while welding the inside of a smoke stack.

 

He went to the hospital, they removed it, and he never looked back. He worked there for forty years.

 

He was a loyal man to his trade profession and the best at what he chose to do with his life.

 

I admired my dad. I still do. Always.

 

He gave me my name, and I'm sticking with it.

 

He encouraged me to dream big and never give up until I achieved those dreams.

 

He taught me to have life goals that took me somewhere higher and gave my life meaning and purpose. Good ol' dad. - Thank you.

My mother, now, she taught me to have faith.

 

To remain dedicated to something bigger than myself.

 

To face adversity and beat the odds under challenging conditions. Deafness. I was raised by a deaf mom in the hills of Appalachia. In poverty. #jenny

 

I played alone a lot because my siblings were nine and six years older than me. My parents divorced when I was about eight years old, so being raised by a deaf mom and an absent dad wasn't easy on anyone.

The "silver lining" that God took the rest of my life to reveal to me is this...my childhood and my past taught me to hope for a brighter tomorrow. #slaymethod

 

It taught me what I don't want, what I do really want, and how to establish boundaries in my pursuit of harmony and happiness. #theenergyremedy

The struggles I've faced, the trials I've endured...it all led to this one beautiful thing...my awakening. I'm grateful and thankful and blessed for that, indeed.

​

Adversity, poverty, single-parent household, rural Appalachia, deafness, lonely childhood, domestic violence, divorce, continuing the generational energy trauma - and passing the energy trauma down through the generations of family - until someone has the courage to face it, battle it, overcome it, and be victorious in their endeavors.

But that's exactly why I am exactly where I am today. And I'm glad to be where I am. #younme

 

Every day is a new day to heal and to rise and shine to the beauty of being alive and being aware that we are alive. We are given so much gifts of energy and time and space, so much natural beauty and wonder, so much elemental substance to sustain us.
